Boom Boom Bang Bang Eek Yeek Crash Wham!

Today's image is of another spare room find - a box of 100 Beano postcards (just a few of which are represented here). I've no idea where they came from or how they ended up in our spare room but the colours, the brilliant comic draughtsmanship and the very Britsh sense of humour have huge appeal to me.
The first issue of The Beano was published on 30th July 1938, has been going strong ever since and is a glorious and riotous celebration of children and childhood with plenty of mischief, mayhem, jokes and pranks involving such inimitable characters as Dennis The Menace, Gnasher, The Bash Street Kids, Minnie the Minx, Biffo the Bear and Roger the Dodger.
Having said all that The Beano seemed to pass me by when I was a kid - I was much more into 200 AD and Warlord!
