Grey Atlantic Way
Cartmel 5:39 yesterday - the last race, the get out of jail stakes as they say.
We'd backed Ballycorr, handily 3rd under champion jockey Brian Hughes with the best part of a circuit to go. Wasn't to be, finished out of the places, not Brian's day - he'd fallen off one in the race before.
Dee Star won, the 4th horse here, beating Loughermore , the leading and headless horse as my lens caught them after the fence at the top of the course.
A great afternoon with Catherine and Daisy dog, no children now, sunshine, great racing, a few drinks and we could please ourselves. No real plan, went with the flow.
Cartmel is a little gem of a village, in The Lake District, that comes alive for the summer jumps. Always worth a trip.
