Sawtooth Ramps

Next in my mini series about the public art installations lining the M8 motorway. Sawtooth Ramps, by American artist Patricia Leighton, was in fact the first of the artworks to be created and was the result of an international competition held in 1993. The seven ramps (or 'pyramids' as they're often referred to) rise over 30 feet above the road and stretch for almost 1000 yards.

A subsequent addition to the artwork were a flock of red-painted sheep which make the whole exercise look like some kind of Cubist snooker table.
