Grand Rapids is Flooding
The Grand River is overflowing its banks up and down stream from downtown and is predicted to rise one more foot. Flood walls downtown are predicted to hold but sandbags are piling up just in case.
Water is seeping into downtown buildings and an employee I met at the JW Marriott said they've removed about 20 fish from their loading dock :-)
Needless to say, this also affects all connecting rivers, and the Thornapple River in Ada is currently flooding low lying sections of town. Thankfully, we live on high ground.
I've been taking pictures for the past four days because this is a record-breaking time for Grand Rapids. See them on flickr if you're interested. I have to go finish building my ark...
