The Water Fountain...

For family reasons, ended up doing a trip down memory lane tour today round Lenzie and Kirkintilloch. Had a walk in Peel Park, Kirkintilloch and loved this Victorian water fountain built in 1905. When originally created, it came complete with metal drinking cups dangling on chains, and it had a little wrought iron step up to it so that small children could reach. Made by the long since closed down Lion Foundry, famous for its decorative ironwork. Both the fountain and the old wrought iron bandstand are lovely relics of a by gone age...
