Bossing the Pump Track

CyclopsJnr bossed the pump track on his new bike.

I tried walking up Grasmoor while the others were walking Alpacas.  The lower part of the walk was quite pleasant up to about the 750m contour (I'd already come up 650m) with only 100m to the top.  There the path had been "refreshed" with huge quantities of small stones (a bit bigger than gravel) presumably to combat erosion.  However, at this point the path is on the crest of a ridge, very exposed, and extremely steep.  It was hard going on such a slippery surface and getting harder.  I decided I didn't feel very safe and turned around and came back.  Glad I did - the bits I had already done were very tricky coming downward too (I shuffled on my bum some of the way - not very dignified but I felt much better with a lower centre of gravity).  Not sure my varifocals always helped me find the most secure footing either.

The first extra picture shows the view back down the path from where I turned around.  Hopefully it gives some sense of scale if not a good view of the path itself.  The second is looking back up at the section - somewhere in amongst the natural scree is the finer stone of the "path".

Other people made it up and down OK, but they must have felt braver and more sure footed than I did...
