WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Pushing the Boat out!

We were really late going to bed last night - 01.30 for me and Lila! Way, way, way past my bedtime. However, I was up bright and breezy at 07.30.
We let Lila sleep on till 10 as she is not an early riser.
We went to the boat about 11ish and took it into Skipton, where we planned to get chips from Bizzie Lizzie’s which we were all excited about. When we went in there was a sign on the counter- No Vegan Chips today! I wonder if if it’s because of the Sunflower oil shortage due to the war in Ukraine.
We ended up having to get sandwiches from M+S. Then Lila and I went round every charity shop in Skipton, I didn’t find anything but Lila got 3 items of clothing - she’s an expert charity shop buyer.
It was lovely and sunny and we had coffee and cake on the back deck then we headed back to the mooring and while Frank was opening the swing bridge the boat was caught by a gust of wind and we ended up on the opposite side of the canal, trying to get back was difficult and just as I was nearly there a boat came in the opposite direction and didn’t wait for me to go through first and it knocked me off course again. Frank ended up having to put the barriers up and close the bridge again to allow the queue of traffic through. Then he came and pushed the boat out at the front and I was able to steer through.
On the way back home we stopped in Gargrave and got chips and mushy peas at The Frying Yorkshireman - their chips are much nicer than Bizzie Lizzie’s anyway.

Thursday’s poem:

Solace

The news makes me mad
The news makes me sad
The news makes me feel so angry
Then I go out in my own little patch
And there, all is as it should be.

Friday’s poem:

Friendship

Three years have passed - bloody pandemic
We haven’t been in contact much
The odd comment on Facebook,
I’m not good at keeping in touch

So when I’m waiting for the train to arrive
I wonder how much we’ve each changed
I’ve got so used to my own company
Will being close again feel strange?

The train draws in, which door will it be?
Then that familiar figure appears
We run, we hug, we laugh out loud
It’s like yesterday, not three years.

That is how true friendship works
No pressure, no judgement, no fear
Picking up old threads, adding in new
Parting but knowing we’re still here.

Still writing today’s poem.
Also way behind with all your Blips but I shall sprinkle stars!

We’re all exhausted and flagging now!
Goodnight all ;-) X
