Penrith to Haltwhistle

So much for today being an easy day. Yes, we did only 40 miles, but there were some tough climbs.
We left quite late, after a leisurely breakfast, not intending to go up the Hartsite Pass… Then in Renwick, a lady convinced us to go that way - apparently the alternative had a lot of climb too and the view from the top was worth it. It was a long slog but not too steep that we had to walk, and the view was indeed beautiful. The descent on the other side was pretty exhilarating! We stopped to watch curlews. I tried to photograph them but they were a bit too far for my phone camera (with no proper zoom).
Then it was quite straightforward to Haltwhistle. Now some food and I feel we deserve some wine!
