Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2022 Friday — Final Friday

Our final Friday afternoon of May took us to the tourist town of Cambria approximately 14 miles north. The Farmer's Market was the bullseye on my target. After the past two evenings of dinner creation in my kitchen, I was desiring a substitute.

Our soup chef, Stephanie, was my solution. Quite some time ago we slowed down on our soup purchasing. The gymnastics we had to do to get soup, even months after the Pandemic, was a roadblock (the line, the jar procedure, the exact payment drop-off), and then Steph raised her price a dollar a jar, so homemade meals and creating our own soup became our norm.

Yes, I have now learned how very inexpensive it is to create our own soup. I've had friends tell me for a very long time how expensive Steph's soup is: $11 a jar before she raised the price in January. After making several batches of my own soup, I agree.

But today I decided that $12 for dinner for two was acceptable after spending 90+ minutes in my kitchen preparing our meal each of the previous two evenings (that doesn't count time to grocery shop or to clean-up after our meal). So 100% organic coconut curried lentil was delightful for our evening meal.

The photo collage is a combo of farmer's market moments and one of me and Chloe & Mitzi walking toward the ocean in Shamel Park that Mr. Fun captured.

May’s holiday weekend has arrived.
From California's Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
