Yesterday

Last day today so we checked out of the hotel and found a nice place for breakfast. I’m not really a coffee drinker but make an exception for Italian coffee, perfect with our breakfast pastries. Taxi to the airport and then smooth check in and departure. Queuing for the departure gate and there was a minor hold up, while I was asked to step aside for a red haired lady. She was very apologetic and embarrassed, and I couldn’t quite believe Sarah Fergusson (Duchess of York) was on a Veuling flight). She apologised for jumping ahead of me and asked if I’d like a selfie?!? Rude to refuse so I quickly snapped a picture and we chatted on the way to the gate. We agreed Florence was a beautiful place and I told her about my comfy ‘fit flops’ - best shoes ever! She seemed a nice lady? However I was surprised when we arrived back at Gatwick that her luggage was taken off first and loaded into a black elite courtesy vehicle parked just outside the plane - she quickly decended the steps first and was whisked away before we had taken our bags out of the overhead locker!

Our smooth journey home then went pear shaped when we got the wrong shuttle bus and ended up in the north terminal and had to get the mono rail back again! Doh. However didn’t spoil what had been a lovely break with my very lovely No.2
