The blue post box
This is the old police station in Keighley , abandoned just a few years ago and now a Civic Centre, incorporating a museum to policing and a café. Blue is the iconic colour associated with our police force - think tardis, police box etc. Here we still have a police post box, and yes, you can still post things in it but now only post for the civic centre, and above the door you can see the old blue police lamp. The actual police force picked up their handcuffs, their policeman's helmets, their cells and all their other stuff and disappeared to a huge cell block all of their own on a far-flung business estate somewhere on the perimeter of the town. And they've never been seen since... Sorry, I just couldn't resist that well-loved story ending but to be honest I can't remember when I last saw a policeman, except on TV. I did see a police car once. It was disappearing in a veritable blur of blue and yellow dice down the by-pass. Don't know what became of it.
