An industrial past
It did not look like a walk would be possible this morning at eight o'clock but the drizzle stopped and we were able to walk around the industrial remains above the village of Escaro. The iron and fluorite mines shut in the 1960s and nature has hidden many of the workings. It was dull and cloudy most of the time but, in a parting of the clouds, I saw that the Canigou mountain, which was almost bare yesterday, now has a new covering of snow.
