I know, I know, I've done this one before, but - It'll be the last time I'm here for a while (probably) so I'll snap it whilst I can.
Yes indeed, I was back at Cavalry Park for more school soccer 7s with Alex and his classmates; looking for a measure of revenge for th 10-2 cuffing administered by Parson's Green earlier in the year.
(I'd taken a bit of circuitous route here; via the latest Rebel Bear work on the side of a kebab shop in Muirhouse; I'll blip it soon enough - any excuse to get bike miles in on a sunny Saturday)
In a rare moment of blip world colliding with real world, lapsed blipper NoStatic (who's lad Arlo played a blinder on the right side of a back three) and I clocked a portrait by none other than part time cricketer imindoors in the pavilion at Cavalry Park; right next to a team photo of the 2nd XI.
Anyhoo, a strong but not full strength Wardie soon raced into a 3 goal lead; and even with astute* substitutions we managed to hold them off and have them believe they could have beaten us. In the 8-6 did not tell of the dominance we had when we wielded our full might. It was a happy bunch of kids who sped off to grab their lunch ahead of the cup final.
I cycled back into town; took the dig for a walk around the Meadows before I took settled into watching the Rangers v Hertz game; sadly the locals were found wanting by the recently denied Gers. Inevitable, really.
And so afternoon rolled into evening with more dog walking and dinner.
Negotiating the drunken masses whilst cycling home was an arduous task...! Drowning their sorrows, I guess.
*bringing on the fringe players for a run about to foster a belief amongst the opposition that they might be able to claw their way back into the game before sending back on the crunching midfielder who strangled their creativity once more if they got within a couple of goals
