I Need My Bangs Cut
Well, I had J.C. almost all day. This is the look she almost always gives me. I think she realizes how important it is to me that she has a fun, safe, educational time when I'm watching her so she tries her best to give me a hard time.
J.C. loves to clean. She likes to run the vacuum, sweep, mop, wipe counters with a wet rag. She needs her own pint size set of cleaning tools. Maybe even an apron. That would be adorable.
When I went to get her from her up from her nap I discovered she was stark naked. I don't know how she got off her jean shorts on her own but, taking her own diaper off is no problem for her.
I'm probably going to be in trouble with my sister but, when I was babysitting I bopped her too hard. She stuck a penny in her mouth while I was cleaning up the floor after lunch. I just reacted maybe too severly. I have felt terrible. My sister said that they were going to curb the corporal punishmnent and start putting her in time out instead. Well, I forgot and ended up popping her on the thigh instead of her diaper. I hope she doesn't have a mark on her today.
I haven't figured out how to punish a young child when they do something dangerous. I would like to read up on it. I don't feel that hitting was helpful when I was being reared and know there must be a better way. But, is spanking ever appropriate? I know that publicly it's not okay but, many people feel differently when they are behind closed doors.
I'm glad I've got some time to figure stuff out. I've read pretty much all the pregnancy books and now it's time to move onto the first year material. I know my husband will have his own opinion. I am looking forward to discussing our own plan for discipline and child rearing. It's comforting to know that I have my hubby to lean on in this, he is very smart and a great father already.
On a different note here's a lovely letter written to my namesake by her son. She's someone in my family I would have really liked to have known.
