Swamp Chicken

In German this is "eine Teichralle" and is more commonly called a moorhen, however as the Best Name I've read today, Swamp Chicken it is.

I was on errand duty today and I suddenly thought "that's another word I don't know in German*" and while I was thinking that, I suddenly thought of the word that completely perplexed my Englisch chum SOH when he first moved to Scotland. He had a colleague who told him that he had to leave early because (and this bit is so Scottish it should really wear a kilt) "he had to go his messages".

Most Scottish readers know exactly what that means but for those of you who don't, it means "he had to go food shopping". And when you have successfully completed this task you can tell your nearest and dearest that you have "done your messages". Sadly I've not discovered the German equivalent.

Yesterday's germangled Song was Led Zeppelin's "Going To California" and today you get this :-

Oh du solltest die Spur meiner Schande sehen
Sie reicht aus, die gesamte Menschheit zu erschrecken
Oh du solltest die Spur meiner Schande sehen
Sie reicht aus, die gesamte Menschheit zu erschrecken

*errand = Besorgung
