Iceland never gets to 90 degrees

Another awesome thing about Iceland is that it NEVER hits 90 degrees there - unless you are falling into a volcano, and then it is only 90 degrees for a very short time and then it is hotter.

Like yesterday, I gardened in the morning and did other things in the afternoon. Now we have an impressive storm outside which is great because it is watering everything. I planted all the Alpine Columbines and successfully gave three away. If it weren't for Miranda's wildflower challenge I don't know that I would have noticed Columbines in Shenandoah, a surprising spot of bright red color on hiking trails with impressive tails coming out the end. The Alpine should be blue. We'll see how many make it and if the hot pepper and garlic can keep the squirrel from digging them up!

If you have a recipe that calls for nutmeg in an omelette, be suspicious.

American actor Liev Schreiber was very close to his grandfather who immigrated from Ukraine. In March, Schreiber co-founded BlueCheck Ukraine which funds grassroots organizations providing assistance for Ukrainians.

The line to return to Ukaine stretches for miles. It used to take hours or days to cross into Poland. Now it is hours or days to cross back into Ukraine. This shows confidence in the future.

In 1990 I got to fly Aeroflot. We called it Aeroflop. I remember the safety speech:  the stewardess flung open the curtains, glared at us, and flung them shut. Was there a goat on the plane or am I misremembering that? Over the last two decades Aeroflot became a real airline and not a joke. Within weeks of the invasion executives began resigning. Its jets are cut off from parts and service. Russian aircraft are banned from US airspace. It used to fly to 56 countries. Now it flies to a dozen.
