Proper rare bird
I spent an hour by a loch looking for one bird and eventually gave up and took Ruadh for a walk.
Just started walking and a message came through that there was a Broad-billed Sandpiper nearby so off we trotted.
Nobody there but soon enough the bird showed. A subtly marked bird that should really be in the upper reaches of Scandinavia by now.
After a while I did go back to my original loch, having heard the bird I was looking for there had arrived five muntes after I left but it had clearly gone again. Somewhat frustrating.
Less frustrating was an on-line wine tasting in the evening with the neighbours. Six sachets of half decent wine were provided along with a lot of chat, some of which we listened to.
