Nesting

I went to Essex Bridge in search of the Shugborough kingfisher. I had a brief glimpse, but it was busy and chaotic there. Several dogs were fetching sticks and chasing around in the water. There were lots of barges on the canal, selling a wide range of very unusual things : carved wizards and charms or trinkets of various varieties.

And there were two heaps of clothing unattended, later reclaimed by a pair of wild swimmers who had taken the plunge elsewhere.

While I was watching from one of the niches on the bridge, I spotted a little tit, flying determinedly into the bridge. I watched closely and realised it was nest building. I managed only one clear shot, as horses and cyclists kept coming past.

They have some fabulous plants at the Canalside Farm Shop, if anyone local is looking for hanging baskets or bedding plants.

I was delighted when I got home. Instead of vanishing at the sound of my car, Suki was sitting in the window. (Extra)

It’s so wonderful to see a face in the window again…….
