Kotuku

I was driving past Caton Bay today when this kotuku flew in.  It is so exciting to see one that I quickly pulled over then reversed.  Shoved the camera out the window and basically got this one shot before some children ran into the water and scared it off.

Wonderful to have seen it.  I'll go back sometime on a week day and see if it's still around.   They do tend to be creatures of habit, but it might have just stopped for a rest on its way over Banks Peninsula.
