Dunes
Mum's in respite so we spent a couple of days with the wife's parents in Wexford. We got to the local swimming pool in Gorey before the crowds arrived, since the wean is sensitive to noisy environments and threw a wobbly the last time my wife brought him there. This time, triumph! He has finally found his water-feet (if not his wings, yet). He wouldn't be coaxed, but once left largely to his own devices he really did enjoy the immersion, and the noises ceased to matter. It was hard enough to persuade him out eventually.
Later in the afternoon visited P and L in their lovely little summer house near Brittas Bay. There is a whole, elongated community like a seaside Shire tucked in behind the tall dunes (fenced off to preserve them from trudging beach-goers). Sand dunes are now a protected species.
Myself and P went for a walk to have a chat, then realised that the wean was following. As soon as we got to the sea he stepped out of his track suit bottoms and left them in a muddy puddle. The weather wasn't brilliant though bright and clear enough. Very windy, slightly hazy towards evening, with little clots of cloud-tissue, like jellyfish.
