Gulp!

Today we went down to Aldeburgh and had a walk along another section of the Alde estuary. It's a most peculiar estuary that refuses to flow into the sea. It almost does so at Aldeburgh, but then turns back and continues South and retreats inland behind the remarkable spit that is Orford Ness before joining the River Ore and flowing almost imperceptibly into the sea near Hollesley. We scrutinised the pools, scrub and reeds on the landward side and saw a good selection of birds, including Reed Bunting, Reed Warbler, Linnet (see extras), Stonechat, Egyptian Geese, Greylags, Cormorants, Oystercatchers and even a Marsh Harrier sitting out in the open in the meadow, until some Crows took exception to its presence and chased it away. I took up the challenge of photographing this Little Egret against a white background and was quite pleased with the results.
