Stuff and Nonsense

Astrantia

Husband is playing games all weekend so I spent all day in the garden today. It was nicely warm and there was plenty to do. I'm struggling to plan my borders as I have so many plant babies and I'm loathe to dig stuff up!
Neighbours and parents will be getting more than they imagined :)

Today's blip is one of my new favourite plants - Astrantia. I'd seen it on Gardener's World last year and tried to grow some from seed in September. Nothing germinated prior to Christmas and I left one of the trays outside all winter and one in the greenhouse. In about February about half a dozen seeds finally germinated to my complete surprise, but have not got much further than the seedling stage. They've been potted on from the tray, but are not really putting down roots. Nevertheless, I am still hopeful it will put on some growth when it warms up a bit.
Anyway, this one, I think it was called Buckland, came from a plant fair on the Wirral in March and is doing very well so far. I just hope I don't lose it in the winter.

Please also see details of a potential blipmeet/walk next month to Hilbre Island on the community pages if you are fairly local.
