Lucanus cervus

In an exciting few seconds down the lane this morning we saw two field voles, who scampered off fairly sharpish, and then this male stag beetle, who hung around for a photo.

Later we had a leisurely lunch at the Royal Oak with Mum and Dad, so it’s a been a good day all round.
