Pit Wheel

We spent today at the Woodhorn Colliery Museum. This is the Pit wheel from Duke’s Pit at the Ashington Colliery.

The Museum is an old pit with many of the original buildings, some engines, a bee keeping exhibition, trade union banners, a gallery hosting miner’s art and a reconstructed street giving one an experience of what it was like to live and mine in a mining community .

A fantastic place for photography and the entance fee gives you a year’s membership to the museum.
