Ball Boy
Such good arranging - visitors here from the south, who never see a frost and find it chilly up here even in summer - and it's the Best Day of the Year So Far! The wind has gone. The sun was out, and in fact some of us got a wee bit sunburnt.
They had never been to Edinburgh's Seaside. They are from Jersey, and don't have any double decker buses to go on, except to the airport, so that was their first treat. Top front seat of course. I think the lady I squashed in beside wasn't too pleased...
We walked right along the prom, meeting lots of different dogs and dog owners, all of them worthy of a blip. The Irish Wolfhound Scottish Deerhound that I thought was a donkey from afar, the hairy daschound whose birthday it was, and who just toppled over on to her back to be tickled, the one that looked like a big sheep. Great fun.
As we approached this lad, he was kicking his ball around, doing keepy-uppy, and was very good, but the ball accidentally bounced over the wall and on to the beach. So he just flipped over wall to get it. As you do.
I couldn't help but shout, 'Could you do that again!' and he did. Amazing.
A brilliant lunch in a seaside hostelry which has gone to the top of my charts. Not only for the excellent beer battered hake and chips, but I asked the nice waiter if he could turn down the (screechy) muzak a teensy bit. And he turned it OFF! Result!
In the evening I went to the 'See Us' Exhibition as I had a photo in. I was a wee bit early, so had wandered around the gardens. On the roof of the Princes Mall there were paper coffee cups blowing around, and I picked a few up to put in a bin. A man was standing nearby and commented how terrible it was that people did that.
I noticed that he had a DSLR. 'Are you a blipper?'
'Yes!'
Then, simultaneously,
'Are you going to the Exhibition?'
I had met Crofty, through for the event from Glasgow.
Actually, it was a great evening, and I met lots of blippers, too numerous to mention. There was a great band there too. I'm sure there will be a few blips of the event today.
What a super day!
