Lac du Bourget

Despite a late night due to the party last night, we were able to get up at a reasonable hour in the morning to get the day started. Spencer and I brought our bikes with us on the train to Chambéry last night, in case we wanted to use them today. It was about 27 degrees in Chambéry with not one cloud in the sky. Everyone planned to go out to the lake for the afternoon, but they were all taking the bus. Spencer and I left early and rode our bikes past Bourget all the way up to a darling little town called Bord d'Eau that overlooks the lake where I took this photo. It was a stunningly beautiful bike ride, as you can see, with the lake and the Alps and all the flowers in bloom. We rode back down to the beach to meet everyone to swim (and we actually swam!!) and have ice cream. Once everyone was adequately sunburned and the sun had set behind the mountain, we went back to Chambéry to drink apéro and say our final goodbyes to everyone. It wasn't as sad as you might think, as I'm quite certain this isn't the last time we'll see each other.
