Wildflower Walk

Once again, we took advantage of a sunny morning after a stormy night, to walk down to Haunn from the cottage . Haunn faces the seaward side and the Treshnish Islands . Beautiful and wild but the meadows around it hold a wonderful array of wildflowers - Spotted Orchid, Early Purple Orchids, the fascinating Butterwort ( an insectivorous plant which supplements the poor soils it sits on with a diet of insects which it traps in its leaves) and a few early Wood Bitter Vetch as well as Soring Squills.

A small herd of deer ran past us as we walked down to the sea and there were several larks near the rocks . We also heard a willow warbler and a whitethroat. 
We sat on the rocks for ages only a few walkers passing by, while the sea roared.
Lunch was eaten back at the cottage then we drove down to Loch na Keal and Loch Scridain with plans to cycle again but as fair weather cyclists we just enjoyed the views . Never seen so many camper vans touring on the tiny roads .
Rounded the day off with fish and chips in Tobermory!
