An Anole Kind of Day

Spent the morning at Sweetwater Wetlands Park with five of my favorite BlipFriends. Not surprisingly for the middle of May, it was oppressively hot and humid. No mosquitos, thank goodness! Even the creatures were, for the most part, hiding out in any shady spots they could find. Since Anoles prefer sun and heat, they were everywhere and not challenging to photograph. My main shot is of a native Green Anole. It was in the process of shedding it's skin, which these reptiles do once every four weeks or so. The Anole will often consume the cast off skin for it's nutrition value or possibly to clean up the area, leaving no signs for a predator.
