Physic Garden
The weather was somewhat better today, so I managed a walk at lunchtime to clear my head. I wandered round the physic garden beside the Palace of Holyroodhouse, a lovely tranquil place and not yet overrun by tourists.
The Palace’s original physic garden was created in 1670 to teach students about the medicinal properties of plants and to provide pharmacists with fresh materials. This was the first garden of its kind in Scotland and only the second botanic gardens to be established in Britain.
This new garden was opened in 2020.
