Dog Day Afternoon
It was a beautiful day in the city today, the sort of day that reminds me why I hate working in the city so much but that's another story.
I set off at lunchtime to capture the sculpture I had shot yesterday but only to discard in favor of a "thought for the day" I got down onto the riverside and wandered along enjoying the warmth of the day, there were lots of students enjoying a break sprawled on the newly laid turf. I am sure GCC are undertaking a lot of renovation to show the city off to her best for next years Commonwealth Games. I arrived at the sculpture resplendent, bathed in the blanching rays of the sun, her arms wide open reaching as if reaching for the sky. Sadly, the local drinkers who usually frequent the more secluded areas of the city had descended to enjoy the river bank ambiance and had taken over the steps in the background of my shot. They were full of the joys of spring... and Buckfast Wine I venture, but jovial and engaging in banter with the students who seemed to be enjoying the badinage as much as their foils!
I thought better of the shot and headed back towards the office and en-route I saw this guy walking down the "Style Mile" sheepskin coat and huskies, a man for all seasons I though. One of the dogs picked up some paper and he was very gentle in speaking to her and opening her mouth to remove the offending rubbish. I went over and asked if he would mind if I photographed him and the dogs, he was happy for me to do so but as I stepped back he said in typical Glasgow gallusness " I canny make the look at you but!" I assured him I would rather they didn't and just be himself he reached into his pocket for a biscuit for each, they were captivated by the promise of the snack and were perfect subjects, I shot 4 frames and thanked him for his time "Nae bother big man" he smiled and he and his beautiful dogs continued to amble through the city,
