The birthday boy

Back blip

We headed out of Worcester this morning and had a detour on the way home. As we may not be back to Worcester in the foreseeable future, we did a round tour of places of special interest to us.

My parents are buried in a tiny graveyard on the outskirts of the village. I went to have ‘a chat’ and attempted  to give the gravestone a clean. My Dad died back in 1973 and my Mum joined him in the ‘90’s so it has been standing a long time.

We then headed into the village and were amazed to find that the Air Ministry flats that both sets of parents lived in have been demolished and new houses built in their place. So much more appropriate and with sufficient parking spaces to accommodate the increased number of cars. I spoke to a gentleman who's little grandchild was playing on the swings and asked about the changes. The new houses and village hall were replaced about 10 - 15 years ago. We had forgotten how narrow the roads through the village are, they seem to have shrunk, but the number of houses doubled. The church and two pubs are still in business!!!

The journey home was better than the southbound journey last week. No rain, it was dry and sunny.

We missed a party to celebrate S’s birthday yesterday, so we were collected and transported into Lincoln for dinner. We went to the Botanist, a first time for us. It was super. The food was excellent, and considering the amount of food I’ve eaten over the past few days, that I didn’t cook, I had plenty to compare it to. The decor is unusual, unique I would say.
