The Big Outside World

What an exciting day I’ve had! I’ve been part of the outside world for the first time in 10 days and how frenetic it all seemed. It is so easy to get used to the peace of Orkney and the current isolation within four walls.

One of my swimming partners chauffeured me up to the fracture clinic at ERI where I had an XRay before showing off my leg embroidery to some student nurses and to the surgeon. I had thought I would have the stitches taken out but it was decided they could stay put for a few more days.

I was chauffeured back for coffee by my friend to her beautiful secluded garden complete with a new sauna which, had that step not let me down in Aberdeen, would have seen me reclining in its steamy interior after an invigorating dook at Portobello. It is something to look forward to when I have two functioning legs again.
