Australia's soul

I’m about to start this book, and really looking forward to it. So much has been written about Australia’s national character. This is said to be the best account since Donald Horne’s classic The lucky country.
 
“The idea of Australia is a contest between those who are imaginative, hopeful, altruistic and ambitious, and those who are defensive and inward looking.”  Sounds like good preparation for the election.
