Garden pond

Today's the day ..................... to be creative

For those that showed an interest in seeing Will's latest project - here it is!  He was putting the final touches to it today and planting the water plants that arrived in the morning's post.

It started out life as a 1000 litre IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container - had to look that up!) tank - the sort that farmers and others use to store all sorts of things.  Will came by this one free of charge (don't ask?).  He cut off the top half of the plastic bit and gave it a good clean - and painted the metal framework black.  Then he dug a big hole deep enough so that the top of the plastic was at ground level.  A few bits of wood here and there, some bespoke willow-weaving at one end - and there you have it - our new garden pond.

The metal rails will hopefully stop young ones (and dogs) from accidentally falling in - although they are rather asking to be climbed on?!  But I'm sure it will give us hours of entertainment watching the plants grow and seeing the creatures that will find their way in somehow ............................
