Down The Hope

Traffic was busy on the main Sunderland road (roadworks; need you ask) so we took an old back road into town.

This railway bridge used to carry minerals from the East Durham coal mines and quarries to the coal drops over the River Wear at Sunderland.  There is still so much to spot around this part of the county. There's a cycle and public footpath over this bridge which joins with others around Wearside..
