Cuckoo

Saturday morning early o'clock, I took mysef off to my local Common to try and photograph the ever elusive cuckoo. Highgate Common is a favourite place for dog walkers and my intentions were to get there first. 05.45 and the carpark already half full with keen dog walkers... I heard the faint 'cuck-oo' in the distance and headed toward the tree line. The cuckooing got louder and then silence. I stood beneath a Silver Birch tree and then heard 'CUCKOO' looked above me and there it was looking down at me. I lifted my camera just as it took to the air - one shot and my target species had been captured. A very good start to the weekend and home in time for breakfast.
