Malcesine

Writing this on our balcony to the amazing vocalises of a blackbird, who gives it laldy every morning and early evening from the roof at the end of our block. There has been some thunder and a brief heavy shower, but now it’s sunny again and three degrees cooler than the midday 30c.

We did a really steep hike today above Malcesine, straight up the lower slopes of Monte Baldo as the cable car whirred overhead and the hang-gliders swirled out over the lake and we thought of our friends Sarah and David doing this crazy thing and walked on …

The descent had some pretty steep sections too, and some beautiful moments, of which the above shows one. We walked back into Malcesine for coffees and beer, chomping down the salted nuts that accompanied them, justified by another walk that’s longer than we’ve been doing for months.

We think we’ve earned a couple of days off now … watch us!
