The Leaves of Lórien

A drive-through Covid test brought me face to face (perhaps more accurately face to swab!) with a Lord of the Rings fan, complete with a complex tattoo.

I read some of the JRR Tolkien books many, many years ago and had to resort to the Internet to interpret the design.

“The Leaves of Lórien were brooches given by Galadriel as gifts to the members of the Fellowship of the Ring (except for Gandalf, presumed to be dead at the time) at the end of their stay at Lothórien. They appeared as the newly opened leaves of a beech.”

The script is written in one of the many Elvish languages and it MAY translate as

“Not idly do the Leaves of Lórien fall”

A legend says that all kinds of butterfly appeared in the Land of Willows

PS. I know I have too much time on my hands!
