On the rocks
Despite the heavy rain, we decided to go for a quick trip to Ruby's beach.
We've spent a lot of time with the girls at Ruby's over the years, great to have it so close to home. It's been a couple of years at least since Renata and Kalyn were there, and it was Spencer's first time. We got soaked but it was worth it. There's a house just up from these rocks, and when the older woman who owned the house passed away, her family sprinkled her ashes on the rocks and now a lovely display of pansies is a tribute to the years she spent there. The girls have climbed up on the rocks countless times. Here's Kalyn with one of Grampa's rain jackets - Renata and Spencer both wore others of his so that their coats wouldn't be too wet for their trip home. I took this and a few other photos with the iPhone because there was no way the camera was leaving the house in this weather. I can't get used to using the phone to take photos but it sure came in handy today.
Sad to see them leave but oh-so-wonderful to have a visit. Both Kalyn and Spencer start new jobs tomorrow morning, so hopefully they feel more relaxed and ready to go after a stressful time. Good that Renata had a chance to relax too. I cried when they left, I think because it's been so long since we'd seen them and the visit was short - but it's always hard to say goodbye. Renata had found Kalyn's childhood Pooh Bear stuffy and they brought him over for a possible MonoMonday shot for me. Kalyn was obsessed with Pooh Bear and apparently had an emotional moment when she saw him again. As they were leaving, she gave Pooh Bear a huge hug that he's to pass on to me when I need it. I suspect I'll need it later today or tomorrow. :-)
