(133) A Sense of Scale

I found some old OS 'inch to the mile' maps recently and had a look at some today. The photo shows the current OS 1:50k metric map of the Perth area alongside the 1970 version. The main difference in this part of the country is probably the appearance of the M90/A9 road that bypasses Perth. My Dad had a great collection of OS maps and I remember as a boy sitting in the passenger seat of the car on an outing and 'navigating' the journey. I was always fascinated at just how much detail was in the map and how accurate it was.
