Bird’s-eye Primrose
Primula farinosa. I think it is two or three years since I blipped this and as it was looking good this morning it can have another turn.
Its posy of coral pink flowers is carried above a rosette of grey, dusty leaves on stems coated with white flour - hence its farinosa name.
It needs rather special conditions to flourish. These are calcareous flushes with seepinf lime rich water. Here they are growing around the edge of a Marl lake which also suits them.
They are found mainly in Northern limestone areas and especially in Yorkshire.
