Isaac had his appointment at the tongue tie clinic this morning to have it examined and snipped if need be. Our day started badly when Amelie came through at 5.30, when I had just finished feeding Isaac, and didn't go back to sleep. Chris had only got in at 5 and needed to get up at 9 to take us to the clinic . I tried to make her sleep longer but she was having none of it. One tantrum later and her and I were up... If she was actually ready to get up and have a nice day without any tiredness induced tantrums I wouldn't mind starting my day early, but I KNEW it would end in tears as it always does.
Anyway we got ourselves ready and headed to Dorking where the clinic was. It was actually at the same place we took Amelie to the out of hours GP a few weeks ago. So we knew where we were going. They examined his tongue, at first not thinking he did have a tongue tie but then realising he did and it was a very thick 'sneaky' one. It was a 70% tie. The process was over very quickly, I didn't want to watch so headed over to the seats to get myself ready to feed him and by the time I had sat down it was over and he was being brought to me. He wasn't as upset as I had imagined but he struggled to feed afterwards, there was quite a bit of blood and he didn't like it. He had a bit of a feed and kept looking up at me, smiling and then bursting into tears! It must have felt very strange for him. He stopped bleeding and we were told we could go but then he bled again so we had to get him to feed a bit longer. Eventually it stopped and we got to go.
On the way home they both fell asleep in the car....
This afternoon I had a contact lens check up at Tesco opticians. I decided to take the pram (silly!) and walk there, leaving Chris and Amelie here. By the time I got there I was so thirsty, I bought a drink and headed upstairs to have a browse of the clothes as I was early. Incident number one - I choked on my drink and tried not to cough but of course that only made me splutter. It was the sort of cough that makes you cry and you just can't get your breath! The embarrassing choke! Incident number two - I headed downstairs only to discover I should have been wearing my lenses for my appointment. Problem being, I didn't have any left and was wearing glasses. Incident number three - Isaac woke up crying just as I was about to be seen. He was finding his tongue a little odd after the snip and wouldn't take his dummy. Incident number four - I pushed my pram containing a screaming Isaac into the smallest examination room ever... Incident number five - The wheel fell off.
I really wanted to laugh at this point and apologised to the optician for being a very awkward customer and he didn't say anything....grumpy so and so
And that was pretty much our day!
As you can see, Isaac enjoyed a long bath this evening followed by recuperative snuggles with Mummy. Chris and I watched Looper after Amelie was in bed, not bad and we both managed to stay awake which was miraculous!
