It's Not Every Day ...........

....... that you meet a Dalek on the streets of Bridlington - complete with minder.
I stopped to chat with the young lad (well he was under 30) who is obviously a Doctor Who buff and had commissioned this fully operational replica. He was even miked up so that he could make it talk.

The pair were hanging about on this street corner waiting for a photo-shoot, it seems that Bridlington council want to use the machine as a tourist attraction; whether the two facts were connected I don't know as I only had a couple of minutes before the photographer arrived.
I did invite the lad to make it a group blip but he graciously declined.

The Dalek is a 1966 version that dates it at the end of the William Hartnell era and the start of the Patrick Troughton. Back in those days, the popularity of the TV series was heavily dependent on Mary Whitehouse, every time she made a public pronouncement on the unsuitability of the programme for children the viewing figures soured.
So she did have a use after all.
