New Springtime Beauty

Camassia quamash (Indian camas) is native to western Canada and the western United States. Both indigenous peoples and settlers ate the bulbs, pit-roasted or boiled. According to Wikipedia, a "pit-cooked camas bulb looks and tastes somewhat like baked sweet potato... After cooking, the bulbs could be pounded into a paste and made into cakes."

I'm happy just to look at the lovely blue flowers...
