Making Progress
The new Budgens build is coming along, nearly two years since the last one burned down. I was in town this morning for a haircut and to get more live mealworms to help the blue tits feed the chicks (the nest is looking a bit crowded already). A nice day today with the temperature late afternoon reaching 20C, although it is a bit breezy. For those of you that are familiar with Holt, you might be interested in looking at a film produced by the Holt Society http://www.theholtsociety.org/holt_film.php
Day 785 / Day 76 of no Legal Covid Requirements in England (for my record only)
The ONS weekly infection survey of private households to w/e 7th May shows levels are down again to pre-xmas levels of c1.48m in the UK with the virus. There are 1 in 45 cases in Eng (down); 1 in 35 in Scotland (down); 1 in 35 in Wales (down); and 1 in 55 in NI (down). In an ONS survey, 78% on the clinically extremely vulnerable think it should be the law that those who test positive self-isolate, and 59% feel it should be law to wear face masks in public spaces (I was horrified at how few people on the park and ride bus were wearing a face mask yesterday - a quarter max). Scientists in the US are studying the genes of volunteers who’ve never caught Covid to look for genetic variants with a big impact on the individual.
