Dear Dahlia
Yesterday seemed a long day but my general mood seemed better.
Picked Kitty up from school and she told me about the new pupil who had joined her class after recently arriving from Ukraine.
She speaks a little English but as she can already speak five other languages l don’t think this will be a problem.
Quite a few families are settling here and more are expected any day.
I have joined a group to support the people who are hosting families as after careful consideration l can’t offer accommodation but could give some practical help.
Got a text to join D and B for a late drink, after D had done her art class and B was in Ilkley ( she has now moved to Settle)
It’s not often l set off to out after 9pm but l drove to Ilkley to join them and was home for 11.30pm. I’d not had any alcohol so l went straight to bed ( in the dark) and slept on and off for nearly seven hours. When l was awake in the night it didn’t seem for long but l woke up groggy and really didn’t want to get up but l did and got the fast walk in straight away.
Slowly coming round now.
Going to stay with Tim tonight until Monday.
Have an eye test in Headingley, then will go to the Sicilian food shop about 100 metres away and buy some freshly made arancini : we are eating food with an Italian theme as we watch the cycling on TV.
It will be interesting to see how l sleep there.
I put this dahlia out on my garden table yesterday, wasn’t expecting the heavy overnight rain that gave it a bit of a hammering but lots of bud still to come.
