Day of Finnishness

Finnish flag can be rised to the pole only for certain reason. You can celebrate important happiness of your own family by flagging too. Today was the birthday of the former statesman J. V. Snellman - and a day of Finnishness.

Somehow suitable to the theme of the day.

In the morning mr President and mrs Prime Minister released their announcement about big decision concerning the future of our country. At the time I was driving to the countryside to see my ancestors' neighborhoods in Teisko area (a pic in the extra) and I heard this big news. Tears of relief came into my eyes, I have to admit. There is no good alternatives, I know, but I really have been afraid, that our neighbor country could attack us again. It has made it earlier in early decades of 1900's. Maybe it is not good time to stand alone anymore.

Finland is an independent country and so important to us as it is. We want to live here in peace with no outside threats - as any normal human being wants. We are not going to attack anywhere. This is a peaceful punch of people.

Last time as we had big problems in history, there was this "Winter War", it was a war between Finland and our big neighbor and lasted from November 30, 1939 to March 13, 1940. The war begun by our neighbor attacking us without any declaration of war, and the war ended 105 days later. A follow-up war was fought from June 25, 1941 to September 19, 1944, as we tried to win back our Carelian area that had been lost year earlier - but lost. So it is then.

After that we have only tried to live in peace with all the others and I truly hope that everyone can believe that. Anyone telling any other story, is a liar. Unfortunately in our big neighbor fake-news they tell unbelievably odd stories about us already, about our tanks transported to east border for instance. Haha. Such a nonsense. Our tanks were transported to west coast for normal annual reharsal, and then back to the bases. Nothing odd happening here.

So it remais to be seen, what happens.

Anyways I found the right places from Teisko area, but no relatives' houses left, as at 1700's only material here was wood... The area that they lived is nowadays a part of city of Tampere. No public transportation. If you do not have a car, of any owb vehicle, you have to walk. I saw one woman doing that. Kilometers of walking.

Rainy day in the morning, sunny afternoon +14c
