Planning

Chris is running in the London marathon on Sunday. He is working out where he will be at what time, so all the friends and family who are going to cheer him on will know when to be in position!

There will be ten of us in three groups, with two lots of seeing him twice as the route loops around the Isle of Dogs, so he has to work out roughly what time he will be at five different places along the way.

After Boston, all the runners are being asked to wear black ribbons and put their hands over their hearts as they cross the line.

Al had really bad fall today. His school has been in the midst of a rebuild / refurbish for months now, and this week it has finally been all but finished. There are quite a few logistical teething problems with walkways being congested and stuff like that, but it all looks lovely. However, Al tripped over a piece of raw wood that was sticking up three inches out of the ground. He really hurt himself. I pointed the problem out to one if the caretakers (who, poor man, was dealing with a queue of people complaining about various things), who must have sorted it out as it was gone when I went in later. I was glad he'd removed it as it was obviously dangerous, but when it was gone I could see why it was there; it was covering a long raw gravel edge that is jagged and very sharp looking. It's also left an uneven surface which looks ripe for tripping over. I suppose one should say, 'oh well I'm sure they know what they are doing'. Yes, one really should....!
