First Peony Flower

Today was hot (29 degrees C), windy and dry. I was out for some gardening this afternoon, and not happy about the wind blowing dirt in my eyes while I potted the last tomato seedlings.

Another load of paperwork arrived, including a notification from my mother’s care insurance. They asked for my “understanding” that they couldn’t pay for a number of grab bars I had mounted in my mother’s bathroom and shower, because the parts were lacking a reference number which would have been necessary for their approval.

Nobody, including the insurance case manager and care consultant, had ever mentioned the need for this number. They only told me that I needed to get the grab bars from a “Sanitätshaus” (special shop for assistive technology) instead of a - much cheaper - DIY store. So I bought from the expensive shop, but the insurance still doesn’t pay for it.

Oh well. I’ll stop the rant now and look at the lovely peony that opened its first flower today.
