A yellow glow

This field is just covered with dandelions. As I continued my drive into Kirkwall I pondered the number and how to calculate it...

Simple, really. Make a wooden frame measuring 1' x 1' and place it in the field. Count all the dandelions in the square. Next, pace 2 sides of the field to calculate its area. Then, with a quick sum the dandelion total could be found.

Or perhaps I could just do stage 1 and then use a map to estimate the field size?

Or perhaps I don't really have time?

A busy day spent in town, then a relaxing hour in the greenhouse with my seedlings.
